Bodegas Alvear


Founded in 1729 by Don Diego de Alvear, Bodegas Alvear is the third oldest winery in Spain. Nowadays it retains all the charm of a family run business, as it is held by the 8th generation of the Alvear family - It is a traditional winery where the quality of its wines has endured since the 18th century.


Alvear is one of the most prestigious wineries of international recognition in Andalusia.  The winery has extensive vineyards in the famous Sierra payments and Moriles Montilla (C√≥rdoba)


The wines of Bodegas Alvear are world renowned and even the best oenological experts recommend these wines. A tour of Bodegas Alvear followed by a tasting session is a must for any wine lover!

What Bodegas Alvear offers
The visit takes place through several areas of the Bodega.
  • Lagar: you will get know everything about Bodega's best and most predominant variety of grape: The Pedro Ximenez.
  • Fermentation: you will admire the enormuos stainless steel tanks used for the monitored fermantation process.
  • Bodega Monumental: The main cellar with 5.500 barrels made of American oak. The Soleras and criaderas process. Bodega Alvear allows photography so make sure you take your camera for this part of the tour!!
  • Bottling line: where 8000 bottles are bottled per hour.
  • Wine Tasting: Fino C.B (dry), Festival Pale Cream (semi - sweet), Pedro Ximenez 1927 (sweet), with olives and bread sticks. The features of these wines will be described during this tasting.
