There are plenty of Restaurants, drinking holes and Tapas bars in the area surrounding the Cortijo. Upon arrival you will find a welcome pack in your villa with a wealth of information on where to go for fun evenings out and how to get there. A lot of these eateries have amazing views and all of them serve great food. This page will give you a flavour of what to expect, if you'll excuse the pun!

Media Luna (Beachbar), is set in a beautiful location by the beach on Lake Iznajar, only a few minutes away in the car.

They serve fantastic BBQ food, ice cream, English style meals and traditional Andalucian meals and alcohol.

There is plenty of outdoor seating overlooking the lake and the restaurant has a very tropical beach feel. Pop in for some food after a refreshing dip in the lake.

Café Media Luna has 4.5 stars out of 5 on Trip Advisor.

Los Parajitos is also known as Antonio's down to the friendly and personable Spanish owner Antonio. Nothing is too much trouble for this friendly man and he always has a nice word for his customers no matter how busy it gets.

Antonio's serves freshly prepared tapas, Traditional Spanish fair, vegetarian meals and is known for BBQ steak and Sangria. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for all weathers with some fantastic long views.

Families visiting the area can be assured that children are welcome.

Finally, look out for the songbirds, after which the bar is named. Have a great time!

Antonio's has 5 out of 5 stars on Trip Advisor.

Past the two bridges at Iznajar and on up the hill toward Rute is the restaurant El Charcon, which has a turret and looks a bit like a small castle. The Steaks with either the pepper sauce or the Roquefort sauce are superb. This fantastic Trip Advisor review says it all El Charcon is situated just outside the village of Iznajar on the A331 heading for Rute. The restaurant has recently had a canopy added to the front so that diners can eat al fresco. Inside there is a dedicated dining area with air conditioning and in the old bar area that has the largest fireplace that I have ever seen in a bar, customers can actually take one of the two tables that are situated in the fireplace, great in the winter months when there is an olive log fire blazing constantly. The meals in El Charcon are huge, they have just started presenting Galician steaks and chops, these are the largest I have ever seen from an ordinary menu. The mixed meat platter is great for two to share and only twelve euros it has sausages, chops, steak, gammon, chicken, belly pork a real meat lovers treat. Or try the fish platter, cooked on the hot plate, there are prawns, Salmon, Grouper, Squid, Tuna, Sardine a fish lovers dream. All the items on the menu are delicious and cooked to order, whilst waiting snack on the free olives and Almonds that are bought to your table. Try the Sangria, mixed before your eyes from fruit, wine and spirits, not pre made bottled Sangria. Antonio speaks English and the menu is in both Spanish and English. .

Los Caminos is owned by 2 brothers Hignio and Pepe. Hignio speaks very good English. Hignio does the cooking and his brother Pepe works behind the bar. Both of them are lovely. The tapas are really excellent and served in the traditional way i.e. when you order a drink you get a complementary tapas. They have an excellent selection of hot and cold tapas which are homemade daily as well as a small food menu. They are always busy on an afternoon with locals enjoying a drink and tapas. On a Sunday you can order a roast chicken with chips to takeaway. You order it on the Saturday and then collect it at 2pm on the Sunday. It has a delicious marinade and is very cheap. The bar has a pool table and football table as well as a large TV. They are often showing sports events such as football, basketball and bull fighting. There is always a lively and friendly atmosphere and the regulars will talk to you even if they don't speak English and you don't speak Spanish! Both the drinks and the food are very reasonably priced which is what you would expect of a bar geared up to cater for locals and not just tourists. It's a great place to visit if you want a taste of real Spain.

La Paloma is situated about 10 minutes away from the Cortijo on the road to Tapia.

La Paloma features a stylish indoor space with a wall of windows over looking a sunshine terrace with a fantastic vista of rolling hillsides and olive groves! We eat there ourselves very regularly and love watching the sun go down from the evening terrace.

The restaurant is run by the charming and lovely Elena who provides a very warm welcome.

La Paloma serves a good selection of Spanish, English and Italian food and is great if you fancy dressing up a little and enjoying a warm and happy evening atmosphere at a very affordable price.
